Latte Art Courses in London: 8 Classes and Workshops

A trainer can watch your milk and your pour as they happen, then correct the part that is holding you back. That is hard to get from a video alone.

London’s latte art courses range from short beginner workshops to small classes and one-to-one tuition. Most teach the same foundations, including glossy microfoam, pitcher control and familiar patterns such as the heart, tulip and rosetta. Choosing between them mostly comes down to location, class size, length and price.

We checked these prices and booking pages on 4 September 2026. Course calendars change, so check the current listing before making plans.

How to choose a latte art class

For a first lesson, look for a class that spends time on milk texture rather than rushing straight to patterns. Starting with a heart makes sense because it teaches the high pour, low pour and pull-through you will use in more complicated designs.

A group workshop is usually the cheaper introduction. With a class capped at two, the trainer should have more time to watch each attempt. If you can already steam consistent milk, ask whether the lesson can be adapted before you pay for another beginner session.

All eight courses below focus on latte art. If you also need help dialing in espresso, look at a combined barista course instead. To arrive already knowing the shapes, run through the heart, tulip and rosetta guides first.

Origin Coffee: Latte Art Enthusiast Course

• Where: Scoresby Street or Charlotte Road, Shoreditch
• Price: £95
• Length: about 1.5 hours
• Group size: not stated; a minimum of two attendees is needed to run
• Good for: a first lesson with coffee and brewing gear included

Origin charges £95 for a London session of about 1.5 hours. Courses run at either Scoresby Street or Charlotte Road, and the booking calendar shows which location applies to each date.

You do not need any previous knowledge. During the session you steam milk and practise a heart, tulip and rosetta. The price includes unlimited coffee, a 250g bag of coffee and a 15% discount code for brewing equipment.

Students must be at least 16, and Origin needs two attendees for the course to run. You can join a waitlist if none of the listed dates works for you.

Prufrock: Introduction to Latte Art

• Where: Leather Lane, Clerkenwell
• Price: £75
• Length: 2.5 hours
• Group size: up to 6
• Good for: the longest group class, with a published class cap

Prufrock runs this £75, 2.5-hour course at its training centre on Leather Lane in Clerkenwell. There is no prerequisite, and each class has no more than six people.

The lesson begins with smooth, glossy microfoam, then moves on to free pouring. You practise hearts, tulips and rosettas with a trainer. The booking also includes coffee when you arrive, plus discounts at Prufrock and the Square Mile webshop.

At two and a half hours, it is one of the longer group classes here. Prufrock also publishes its six-person limit, which several providers do not.

Kaffeine: Latte Art Classes

• Where: 15 Eastcastle Street, Fitzrovia
• Price: £70
• Length: about 2 hours
• Group size: up to 6, with one trainer for every three people
• Good for: a central evening class with snacks and a handout

Kaffeine lists its class at £70 per person for about two hours at 15 Eastcastle Street in Fitzrovia. It takes up to six students, with one trainer for every three people.

The first half covers espresso, steaming milk and pouring technique. You spend the second half at the machine, working on hearts, rosettas and tulips. Depending on time and experience, the class may get as far as swans. Kaffeine also provides light snacks and a handout.

The course PDF is dated January 2025, so its timetable may be stale. It says classes run every other Thursday evening, but confirm the price and schedule with Kaffeine before making plans.

Carnival Coffee Roasters: Latte Art Workshop

• Where: Penge
• Price: £65
• Length: 1.5 hours
• Group size: not stated
• Good for: the lowest price of the eight courses

Carnival’s 1.5-hour workshop costs £65 and takes place at its Penge roastery. The class is aimed at people who want to improve their pours at home, with practice on a professional espresso machine.

You learn how microfoam works, steam milk and practise pouring. Carnival has dairy and alternative milks, and sends each student home with a 230g bag of coffee. You can book a date for yourself or buy a voucher and leave the recipient to choose one later.

The course page does not give a class size. Ask Carnival if you want to know how much time you are likely to get with the trainer.

Kiss the Hippo: Latte Art Course

• Where: Fitzrovia or Spitalfields
• Price: £75
• Length: 2 hours
• Group size: up to 4
• Good for: a small central group; gift codes last 12 months

Kiss the Hippo runs this £75, two-hour class in Fitzrovia and Spitalfields. Groups are limited to four, and beginners are welcome.

After steaming milk, you work on rosettas and tulips. There is unlimited coffee during the session, dairy alternatives are available, and you get a 250g bag of the roaster’s choice to take home. Gift codes last for 12 months.

When we checked, both location pages showed no stock, while the main workshop page still pointed customers to its calendar. Look for a new date before travelling or buying a gift.

Camden Coffee Roastery: Latte Art Class

• Where: Castlehaven Road, Camden
• Price: £75
• Length: 1 hour, Thursdays
• Group size: up to 2
• Good for: the most trainer time per hour, in the shortest session here

Camden Coffee Roastery charges £75 for a one-hour Thursday class at its training room on Castlehaven Road. There are no more than two people in each session.

After a short introduction, you spend most of the hour making espresso, texturing milk and trying to pour a heart in a flat white. Tulips and rosettas are also introduced. If you have more experience, mention it when booking so the trainer can cover harder patterns. A bag of coffee is included when available.

It is the shortest class on this list, with the smallest published group limit.

BARistaBARBAR: Latte Art Course

• Where: Aldgate East
• Price: £89.99
• Length: 2.5 hours
• Group size: not stated
• Good for: a long beginner session in east London

BARistaBARBAR charges £89.99 for a 2.5-hour beginner class at its Aldgate East micro-roastery. You learn to free-pour hearts and start working on rosettas. It is not an accredited course, and the provider does not state a class-size limit.

Several September dates appeared on the page when we checked, but the year was not shown consistently. Confirm the date directly before booking.

London School of Coffee: Latte Art Workshop

• Where: Wandsworth
• Price: £150 per person; £250 for a one-to-one session
• Length: 2 hours
• Group size: up to 2
• Good for: one-to-one or tailored tuition, including weekend and evening dates

The London School of Coffee’s Wandsworth workshop costs £150 per person and lasts two hours. Sessions have no more than two students. For a private one-to-one class, the price rises to £250.

The class covers preparing and texturing milk, followed by hearts, tulips and rosettas. Beginners can start from scratch. More experienced students can tell the trainer what they already know so the lesson can be adapted. The school lists weekday, weekend and selected evening dates.

This class is solely about latte art. The school has a separate barista and latte art course if you want to work on espresso as well.

What to do after the class

You will still need to practise after the class. Use the same cup, pitcher and pattern for a few sessions, changing one thing at a time.

Photograph each pour and jot down what you changed, perhaps the milk texture, pitcher height or flow. Next time, you can compare the result rather than relying on memory. Before you book

You can learn from a beginner class without owning an espresso machine, though you will need access to one to repeat the full process afterwards. If you use oat or another plant milk, check whether the provider has it. Some do; others do not say.

Each provider has its own dates, venues and cancellation terms. Read the current booking page before paying, particularly when the class needs a minimum number of students to go ahead.
